Ivan Rimmer, age 73, of Granville, Iowa died August 29, 2021 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be at Scandinavian Cemetery in Alta, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Ivan James Rimmer was born November 19, 1947 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Claude “Lucky” and Thelma (Bice) Rimmer. Ivan was baptized by the good lord’s Rain and surrounded by nature.

He grew up going to grade school at Hayes Township School. Later, Ivan went on to high school at Storm Lake and graduated in 1966.

On November 20, 1970, Ivan was united in marriage to Patty J. Petersen at the Church of Christ In Storm Lake, Iowa. Ivan and Patty were blessed with two children: Elizabeth and Claude (Buddy).

Ivan was a proud member of the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was part of the army security. He was stationed in Turkey and Japan as support for Vietnam.

In Ivan’s free time, he was a part of many different organizations. NRA Life Endowment, Iowa Lakes Fishing Club, and Storm Lake Men’s/Couple’s Bowling White Tails Unlimited were a few of the numerous organizations that he was a part of.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, slot machines, watching/making time for his grandchildren, numerous phone calls letting each and everyone know just how much he loved them. Ivan loved his family and made them all feel special.

Those left to cherish Ivan’s memories are his wife, Patty J. Rimmer of Granville, Iowa; children: Elizabeth (Jim) Stofferan of Paulina, Iowa; Claude “Buddy” (Julie) Rimmer of Tea, South Dakota; brother, Rex (Tasa) Rimmer of Schaller, Iowa; sisters: Colleen (Gary) Stuckenschnieder of Sioux Rapids; Wanda Hoffman of Tribune, Kansas; JoAnn Rimmer of Marathon, Iowa; brother-in-law, Rod (Linda) Peterson of Holstein, Iowa; grandchildren: Drake Jungers of Granville, Iowa; Zander Rimmer of Tea, South Dakota; Orin Stofferan of Salem, South Dakota; Hank Rimmer of South Dakota; Colten Rimmer of South Dakota; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

Ivan is preceded in death by his parents, Claude “Lucky” and Thelma; sister, Tina; sister-in-law: Lori Rimmer; Linda Peterson; brothers-in-law: Frank Peterson; Louis Hoffman; nephews: Christopher Rimmer; Joshua Petersen; Cody Clauseen.
