From the Sioux County Index (Hull), December 8, 1939:

Miss Nellie Sullivan Died Sat.; Was Buried Here Mon.

Funeral services for Miss Nellie Sullivan, who died Saturday, December 2nd, at her home in Sheldon, was held last Monday, December 4th, at St. Patrick’s Church at Sheldon. Miss Sullivan was sixty-three years old and had lived most of her life in this vicinity moving to Sheldon only last year. She had been ailing for some months.

The funeral services were conducted by Father George Cooke and interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery here in Hull. Pallbearers were W. G. Gacke, Peter Delire, Everett Saxon, J.C. Fiest, Joe Baadt and Bob White.

Miss Sullivan is survived by two sisters: Miss Margaret Sullivan of Sheldon, and Mrs. Elizabeth Tucker of Cherokee. A brother, John Sullivan died but a short time ago, on October 24, 1939.

The Index joins the many friends of the surviving sisters and other relatives in extending sincere sympathy to them in their hour of sorrow.

OBITUARIES—MISS NELLIE SULLIVAN

Miss Nellie Sullivan was born Nov. 23, 1876 and passed away Dec. 2, 1939.

The Sullivan family lived in Hull many years and moved to Sheldon March 1, 1939.

Miss Sullivan had been ill for several weeks with high blood pressure and complications. She is survived by a sister Maggie, a niece Mary of Sheldon and nephew Lloyd Sullivan of Pipestone. A brother John preceded her in death a few weeks ago.

Funeral services were held in St. Patrick’s church Dec. 4 with interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Hull.

Her death certificate has Nellie Sullivan, born November 26, 1876 in Hull; parents Jerry Sullivan and Mary Murphy, both born in Ireland (informant Margaret Sullivan); no occupation; resident of Sheldon 10 months; died at 4:30 a.m. December 2, 1939; cause, carcinoma of liver and pyloris; contributory causes, secondary anaemia and chronic nephritis.

Census records show her to have been a dressmaker in 1900 and 1920; no occupation in 1910 and 1930.
