Mrs. Patricia Muyskens, age 91, of Orange City, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, December 15, at 3:00pm, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Dr. Brian Keepers will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Patricia Carol was born on February 1, 1930, in Orange City, the daughter of Clarence and Deane (Febus) Oelrich. She was raised in Orange City and graduated from the Orange City High School.

On August 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Paul Eugene Muyskens in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They initially made their home in Sioux Center, where “Pat” taught various language arts and reading classes. They later moved to Orange City, where they raised their family, and Pat went back to school. In 1965, she completed her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern College, and soon after started teaching language arts at the MOC Floyd Valley Middle School, where she remained for 27 years. Paul passed away on January 10, 2014, in Orange City, after more than 63 years of marriage.

Mrs. Muyskens was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, solving puzzles, reading, and visiting with friends and family.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Muyskens, of Orange City; her son-in-law, Bob Adams, of Lake Bluff, Illinois; five granddaughters, Jessica, and her husband Matthias Mathaes, of Austin, Texas; Britt Gagne and Kevin Redig, of Des Moines; Courtney Adams, and her husband, Owen Rood, of Hamden, Connecticut; and Kelsey and Mackenzie Adams, both of Chicago, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Nicholas, and Kylie Mathaes; a sister-in-law, Linda Oelrich, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Henry and Dena Muyskens; a daughter, Deb Adams; a brother and his wife, George and Kathy Oelrich; a sister, Lorraine Oelrich; a brother-in-law and his wife, the Rev. Joe and Jean Muyskens; and two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Harriet and the Rev. John Maassen; and Lois and the Rev. Robert Hector.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Public Library, the Trinity Reformed Church, or Northwestern College.
