RESEARCH NOTES

A much briefer obit in the Rock Valley Bee (July 28, 1939) adds that he still owned property here at the time of his death.

Minnesota death certificate 1939-MN-002364 has George Griffin, resident of Slater Township [just beyond Remer], Cass County; born February 2, 1864 in Buffalo, New York; parents Thomas Griffin and Mary Jane Campbell, both born in England; widowed, wife Ella May Griffin; occupation, common laborer; informant Orville Griffin; died 22 July 1939, 7:40 [a.m./p.m. not specified]; cause, coronary thrombosis, duration 5 days; contributory causes, arteriosclerosis and bronchopneumonia, duration unknown; burial place illegible.

FindaGrave.com has a page for a George Griffin, presumably him, incorrect death date of 22 Aug 1939, buried in Fairview Cemetery, Remer, Cass County, Minn. An added note says “Inscription: George W. Griffin 1865-1939."

His wife’s obituary (posted separately) gives her birth name as Ella May Henderson.
