Translation:
After a short but severe suffering from membranous croup, our youngest child, a son of 4 years and 8 months, was taken from our home by death today. That is a very sensitive shock, which only those who have had such experience can understand, our only consolation in this is, that we throw ourselves into the arms of our faithful God and one day we shall find ourselves to become with him.

Research note: From a report on ancestry.com (by others) Arie Van Wyk born Jan 1860 Pella IA died 1932 Orange City IA married Wilhelmina ‘Minnie’ De Jong 1864-1951 and their children were : John 1888-1973, Henry 1890-1963 and Edward Van Wijk 1891-1896.
