Linda Block, age 66 of Hospers, IA passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer on August 17, 2021 at Orange City Area Health System.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hospers with Father Dan Greving officiating and Deacon Dan Goebel assisting. Burial will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hospers. Visitation with family present will be 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, there will be a vigil prayer service at 6 p.m. all at the church. Visitation will resume 1 hour prior to the funeral on Friday.

Linda was born on May 16, 1955 at Le Mars, IA the daughter of Ambrose and Bernice (Pottebaum) Block. She was raised on a farm near Hospers, IA and received her education from St. Anthony's Elementary and graduated in 1973 from Spalding Catholic.

Linda lived in Hospers, IA and worked at Van Beek Natural Science in Orange City, IA. She loved her job and all the people she worked with.

She was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Church Guild in Hospers, IA.

Linda was known for her baking, especially monster cookies and banana bread. She enjoyed camping, making salsa and jams and spending time with her family which was her greatest joy.

Linda is survived by one sister, Diane (Gary) Gesink of Hospers, IA; 4 nieces and nephews, Chris (Emily) Gesink of Bondurant, IA and their 3 children, Claire (4), Gavin (3) & Lane (6 mo); Jen (Mike) Bosma of Hospers, IA and their 2 children, Brooke (7) & Hunter (2); Adam (Ashli) Gesink of Hartley, IA and their 2 children, Ava (4) & Colin (2); Ashley (Seth) Plendl of Maurice, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose & Bernice Block and one sister, Barbara Block.

Casket bearers will be Chris Gesink, Adam Gesink, Mike Bosma, Seth Plendl, Jim Pottebaum and Glen Schueller.
