Carol Hutton, 86, of Craig, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. Reverend Shawn Brooks will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Craig, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Carol Margaret Lindquist was born March 14, 1935 in Early, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Bessie (Carlson) Lindquist. She attended school in Early and graduated from Early High School in 1953. She went to nursing school at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City and graduated in 1956.

She was united in marriage to Myron “Red” Hutton on June 9, 1956 in Sioux City. They made their home in Craig, Iowa. Carol worked as an RN in Orange City, Le Mars, and Sioux City. In 1972, she began driving truck for the family business, Hutton Trucking. In 1990, she went back to work as an RN for the V.A. Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Later, she worked as an RN for the Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa until her retirement. Red passed away October 28, 1991.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, rural Le Mars, Iowa. She enjoyed reading, knitting, mowing, cooking, and baking. Her family always looked forward to her “Swede Bread” she would make every year at Christmas time. She also enjoyed playing cards. She and Red were in a pinochle club for many years. After his passing, she played in a euchre club at the Brunsville Legion Club. She loved watching sports on television. She also loved to play golf. She was in league in Brunsville for many years and enjoyed playing in many area tournaments. Her family was the most important part of her life. She loved getting together with them and watching all her grandchildren participate in activities.

Survivors include her 3 children: Connie (Dave) DeBoom of Craig, Iowa, Christi Hutton of Raytown, MO, and Mike Hutton of Le Mars, IA; a daughter in law, Karen Hutton of West Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren: Daren DeBoom, Brandon DeBoom, Brett Hutton, Brooke DeBoom, Josh Hutton, Kayla Hutton, Ashley Northway, Elizabeth Hutton, Daniel Hutton, and Zach Hutton; 14 great grandchildren; a sister: Mary Wayne of Phoenix, AZ; 4 sisters in law: Marian Lindquist of Storm Lake, IA, Roberta Williams of Ord, NE, Coralie VandeMheen of Apache Junction, AZ, and Joyce Hutton of Windsor, CO; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her parents, Elmer and Bessie Lindquist; her husband, Myron “Red” Hutton; 2 sons: David Hutton in infancy and Douglas Hutton; 2 brothers: Robert Lindquist and Kenneth Lindquist; and 2 sisters: Donna Erickson and Joan Cook.
