Harry Raymond Haneklaus, 73, of Hawarden, IA, passed away on July 2, 2021 at Hillcrest Health Care Center surrounded by his family.

Visitation and sharing of memories will be Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Meyer Brother’s Colonial Chapel from noon to 2 pm. Graveside service with military honors will follow at Logan Park Cemetery.

Harry was born in Sioux City, IA to Henry and Frances Haneklaus on August 1, 1947. He attended school in South Sioux City, Nebraska. After high school, he joined the army and served in the Vietnam War. He married Susan McArthur on March 17, 1971. They went on to have four sons. He worked as a mechanic for the railroad, at Coilcraft in Hawarden, IA, and then for Higman Sand and Gravel in Akron, IA for many years. He loved working on, driving, and talking about cars. Especially his 57’ Chevy! Family was everything to Harry, he was always there when they needed him.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Frances.

Harry is survived by his wife Susan of Hawarden, IA, his sons William of Sioux Falls, SD, Raymond (Teresa) of Centerville, SD, Jim (Amy) of Beresford, SD and Steven of Rock Valley, IA, as well as his sister Susie (Greg) Arens of Chatsworth, IA. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
