Kleuvers, Arend Jan 60 yrs 1814-1874 of Sioux Center

In dutch - Translated:
Mr. Kleuvers, who is sixty years old, leaves behind a widow and adult children, and Wesselink a widow with six needy children. Last Friday the corpses were interred, with the Rev. S. Bolks gave a very impressive speech. The deceased were both very honorable inhabitants of our colony and came to our hometown from Minnesota

This drowning of two frontiersmen of Sioux County IA was a blow to the community. They had gone to the Rock River to get timber and drowned while trying to cross in a wagon driven by oxen. The account of this tragedy can be read in several of the town and county books.

In a report on ancestry.com (by others) The family of Arend Jan Kleuvers, he was born 30 Nov 1814 Aalten Gelderland, Netherladns died July 1874 Sioux county, IA. He was the son of Gerrit Jan Kleuvers and Johanna Hendrika Doornink. He married Grada Johanna Leemkuil 1818 -1879 . on 16 Aug 1845 Aalten Gelderland Netherlands. Children listed were Gerrit Jan Kleuvers 1845-1846, Alyda Wilhelmina Kleuvers 1854-1925, and Johanna Geertruida Bolks 1858
