From the Sioux Center News, August 3, 1939:

Former Sioux Center Tailor Passed Away in Washington.

Word was received here that William A. Lammers passed away in Yakima, Washington last Thursday at 6 P.M. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Alice and Betty Ann. Full details about the funeral have not been received here yet but friends believed the body would be interred in Linden, Washington, where they have been making their home.

Mr. Lammers was a business man in Sioux Center for many years before he retired for his health seven years ago, and moved to Linden, Washington. He was 72 years old at the time of his passing. Mr. Lammers arrived from the Netherlands during the 90’s and first worked as a tailor in LeMars. After a few years he came to Sioux Center and had a tailorshop in the Hyink and Balkema store, then a for time he tailored for the Pete Schoep clothing store, and then went into a business partnership with VanderHoop and Frantsen. Because of his wife's health he disposed of this business and lived for some time in Idaho and Colorado. Mrs. Lammers, nee Eva Beyers, failed to improve and died shortly after returning here.

For many years, until he retired, Mr. Lammers was in a tailoring business with Mr. Overman. He later married Miss Maggie Kuyper of Muskegon and retired about seven years ago.
