Mrs. Stallman Died Saturday At Granville

Mrs. Angela M. Stallman, a kind, devoted and loving mother, died Saturday, September 2 at the age of 80 years at the home of her son Bernard in Granville. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s church with the Reverend John B. Herbers, a nephew of the deceased, officiating. Interment was in St. Mary’s cemetery at Ashton.

Mrs. Stallman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Herbers, was born at New Vienna, Iowa, on June 20, 1859, and grew to womanhood in that community. She was married to Theodore P. Stallman on January 22, 1867[i.e., 1877, see below] at New Vienna and moved to a farm near Templeton where they resided for 22 years.

The family then moved to a farm near Iona, Minn., and lived there for sixteen years. After this they retired and moved to Ashton until the death of Mr. Stallman on December 27, 1930. Mrs. Stallman then came to make her home with her son, Bernard, at Granville.

The deceased is survived by five sons and three daughters: John at Sioux City, Joseph F. at Mooreton, N.D., Alois, Minneapolis, Leo of Ashton, Ben at Granville, and Sister M. Barnaba, Sister M. Elizabeth and Sister M. Theonilla of St. Rose Convent, La Crosse, Wis. Three sons and one daughter, Francis, Clement, Theodore and Mary, preceded her in death. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: The Rev. J. B. Herbers, Dyersville; Mrs. Louise Stallman, Mrs. B. Holker, John and Norbert Stallman of Beardsley, Minn.; Joe Stallman, Mooreton, N.D.; Mrs. Clem Polking, Breda, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. George Eickman and Maxine Eickman, Ashton; and Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Halbur of Halbur, Iowa. All the children were present for the funeral.

Her death certificate adds her parents, Theodore Herbers and Angeline M. Rosen, both born in Germany; died at 2:20 p.m. September 2, 1939; causes, sudden death, coronary occlusion, onset Sept. 2, 1939, and bronchitis, onset Aug. 1, 1939.
