Death Takes Mrs. Sue Ann Grootes, 68

Mrs. Sue Ann Grootes, 68, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday at her home, 344 Seventh avenue north, of a long illness.

Mrs. Grootes was born Nov. 7, 1896, in Sanborn, Ia., and was married to Dr. Meiert Grootes Oct. 24, 1917 in Rock Valley, Ia. They moved to Twin Falls in May of 1924. She was a former member of the Twin Falls Riding club.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Mary McManuf[McManus?], Fibley[Sibley?], Ia.; and five nephews, including Harley Grippen[Crippen], Gooding, and William Grippen, Twin Falls.

Funeral services are set tentatively for 11 a.m. Saturday in Reynolds funeral chapel by the Rev. John Garrabrandt, Methodist church. Final rites will be held at Sunset Memorial park. Friends may call from noon Thursday until time of service.

Crippen; died at 7:00 a.m. April 29, 1964; cause, acute coronary thrombosis, sudden; antecedent causes, acute cardiac asthma, duration 1-½ hours and generalized arteriosclerosis; other significant condition, coronary artery insufficiency, duration 18 months; buried in Sunset Memorial Park, Twin Falls, Idaho.

The Sioux County marriage register for 1917/1918 has groom Meiert Grootes, age 25, resident of Melvin, Iowa, a veterinarian, born in Orange City, parents Peter D. Grootes and Gezina Brinkhuis; bride Susie A. Crippen, age 21, resident of Melvin. born in Sanborn, Iowa, parents Dudley G. Cripen[sic] and Sarah Baldwin; married in Rock Valley October 24, 1917.
