Anthony J. "Tony" Aberson, 76, or Orange City died Sunday, December 10, at the Long Term Care Facility of Orange City Municipal Hospital.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Reverends Steven Vander Molen and Dick Sterk officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Aberson was born March 20, 1924, in Alton, the son of Johan Lucas and Johanna "Josie" (Leenhouts) Aberson. He was raised in Alton. He married Ethel De Jong on January 29, 1946, in Orange City. They made their home in Alton until the 1950's when they moved to a farm near Pipestone, Minnesota. They moved in 1964 to Orange City, where he was a police officer until 1978. He then continued working for the city in the street department until 1985, when he retired because of an accident. He became a resident of the Long Term Care Facility on January 18, 2000.

He was a member of First Reformed Church and had enjoyed working with his tractors on his acreage.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Karla and the Reverend Don Huitink of Lenexa, Kansas, and Deb and Norm Kempema of Rock Valley; two sons and their wives, Jim and Mavis Aberson of Orange City and Ken and Deb Aberson of Alta; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Dena Palsma and Bertha Eason, both of Alton; a brother, Peter Aberson of Alton; and a stepsister, Gertrude Visser.

Memorials may be directed to the Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta.
