Translated:
After almost a year of painful suffering, my faithful loving companion, Elizabeth Jongewaard De Boer (DenBoer), fell asleep in her Lord on the 4th of January. She was almost 73 years old: and had she lived until July, we would have been married for 50 years. The hope of a happy reunion brings comfort in this painful hour. Also on behalf of the Children, K. Jongewaard Orange City, IA 7 Jan 1901.
Again we have to inform you of the death of a woman, namely Mrs. K. Jongewaard She managed to become the pioneers of Sioux Co. and later became part of the first settlers in Dakota. She did, however, take part the many hardships of life. Mrs. J. was a religious woman who knew where she knew her destiny. Because of her piety and her lovable character she had a great company of friends, who now sympathize with her husband, realizing how much he has lost. Her remains were buried Monday, and the religious services conducted by Rev. Steffens and Straks.
