Trina Mae Moss, age 79 of Sioux Center, IA, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Interment will follow the service in Carmel Cemetery. There will be a livestream link available on our website to view the funeral service.

Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with family present at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, IA.

The Moss family asks memorials to be directed to the Senior Companion Program of Rock Valley or Hope Haven.

Trina Mae Moss was born on March 28, 1942 to Jacob and Nellie (Boender) Stouwie in New Sharon, Iowa. She grew up in the country on a farm near New Sharon, and at 16 her family moved to Leighton, Iowa. She graduated from Pella Christian High School and continued her education at Dordt College where she was a part of the first four-year class at Dordt. After graduation from college, Trina was a schoolteacher at Inwood School.

Trina was united in marriage to Neal Moss on November 26, 1965 in Inwood, Iowa. Together they made their home in Ft. Dodge, Independence, and Sioux City before moving back to Sioux Center in 1975. To this union, seven children were born.

In the past, Trina was a schoolteacher at Sioux City, Sully Christian, and Sioux Center Christian schools. She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church where she took part in Mary’s Fellowship for many years. She loved to read, play piano and garden. Most of all, Trina loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always had her children in her prayers. Her family remembers her as a kind, patient, selfless and godly woman. Trina always found joy in the simple things and had a fun sense of humor.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Neal; children, Nancy (Randy) Iverson of Sioux Falls, SD and their children Katie and Maggie; Barb (Dan) Dahl of Elkhorn, NE and their children Brady and Benjamin, Jeff (Soly) Moss of Clifton, VA and their children Sophia and Jaden; Jonathan Moss of Sioux Falls, SD; Susan Moss of Sioux Center, IA and Andrew (Amanda) Moss of Hull, IA and their children Blake, Alicia, Clayton, Dylan and Taylor; sister, Marlene Bennink of New London, IA; sisters-in-law, Mary Van Middendorp, Eileen (Ken) Kooima and Casey Moss; brothers-in-law Harlan (Pat) Moss and Myron Moss; along with many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Nellie Stouwie; brother, Kenneth Stouwie; stillborn son, Mark Alan; parents-in-law, John and Gertrude Moss; brothers-in-law, John Van Middendorp, Alvin Moss, Leslie Moss, Ivan Bennink; sisters-in-law, Jean Stouwie and Fran Moss.
