Rock Valley, IA: Mrs. Arie (Betty Reva) den Hoed, 73, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Thursday, April 15, 2021 at her home. Visitation for Betty den Hoed will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, with the family present from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Betty den Hoed was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Gerrit and Henrietta (Van Beek) Van Grootheest on May 16, 1947. She was educated in Rock Rapids. On July 18, 1967, she was united in marriage to Arie den Hoed. Betty was a lifelong member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Arie and Betty were blessed with eight children.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Arie den Hoed of Rock Valley; six daughters: Sharon (Edward) Hup of Corsica, South Dakota; Sheryl Knibbe of Sioux Center, Iowa; Sheila Top of Rock Valley, Iowa; Elizabeth (Fred) Vanden Bogerd of Schoolcraft, Michigan; Sharlene (Darren) Bonestroo of Hull, Iowa; Cornelia den Hoed of Rock Valley, Iowa; two sons: Arlen den Hoed of Doon, Iowa, Gerald (Alyssa) den Hoed of Rock Rapids, Iowa; 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; Brothers: Gerrit (Jeanette) Van Grootheest and Albert (Grace) Van Grootheest of Rock Valley, Iowa; sister-in-law: Helene (Les) Gayer of Orange City, Iowa; Sister: Mary (Jim) Van Surksum of Rock Valley, Iowa.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Gerrit and Henrietta Van Grootheest, Brothers Ted and Harvey Van Grootheest, and Grandson Jonathon Hup.
