Former Resident Passes

Mrs. Winnie Mulder Doedens of Denver died Febr. 22nd at her home there, at the age of 65 years. Her girlhood years were spent in the Alton vicinity, the family having lived on the farm now occupied by the A. Plander family.

She is survived by her husband and two children, one sister, Mrs. Joe Scholten of Lynden, Wash., and three brothers, Henry Mulder of Ada, Minn., Jake Mulder of Holland, Minn., and Menko Mulder of Sheldon. Rev, Richard J, Rozeboom officiated at the funeral services held at the First Reformed church in Denver.

Her FindaGrave.com page has Winnie Mulder Doedens, born 3 Nov 1874, died 22 Feb 1939, buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, Jefferson County, Colorado; spouse Abel Doedens (1863-1943); one child listed, John Doedens (1897-1944). There is a photo of her headstone.

The Cook County, Illinois, Marriages Index on Ancestry.com has Winnie Mulder, age 21, and Abel Doedens, age 32, marrying in Chicago on 9 June 1896.

The 1910 U.S. census for Cheyenne, Wyoming has Abel Doedens (46), born in Holland, immigrated 1881, naturalized, a farmer, married 15 years; wife Vinnie or Winnie (35), mother of 2 children, both living, born in Illinois; son John (12) and daughter Tracy (8), both born in Illinois. In the 1930 census the four of them are still farming in Cheyenne.
