Wife Jansje Bulsink born 31 Oct 1851 Amsterdam Neth, died 12 Apr 1912 Sioux Center IA, she was the daughter of Hermanus Bulsink and Gillisje Haasjager Kwah. Listed was their daughter Julia 1897-1991.

Friday evening, April 12, was taken away from our side by death after a long suffering, my beloved wife, Jansje Wernke, at the age of sixty years and five months. I understand this loss, since we were allowed to live in a pleasant marriage for about 37 years, and have experienced a lot of life but also a lot of suffering with each other. Especially in the last years the trials were many, where she always rested. I was connected and she needed care and nursing. Because of that the bonds became even closer and the loss all the heavier She confessed that the Lord Jesus was her Surety and Part, and although she would like to live a little longer. If it was the Lord's we to raise her up, she desired His will to be done. What the Lord did was good. She was not afraid of dying. This eases our grief. on behalf of our daughter, J. Wernke, We wish to bring our friends and neighbors our thanksgiving for the faithful help shown to us during the illness and death of my wife.
