From the Sioux Center News, December 15, 1938:

Word was received here late last week that Mrs. John Heideman, a former resident of Sioux Center, had passed away at her home in Glendale, Calif. Mrs. Heideman moved to Calif. eighteen years ago with her three children following the death of her husband. John Heideman was town marshal of Sioux Center for many years and will be remembered by all the older residents.

Surviving Mrs. Heideman are her two daughters, Johanna and Burdette, who have been living with her, and her son John who is married and also lives in California; her sister, Mrs. Sena Boyink and step-brother Herman Zeutenhorst both of Sioux Center. The funeral was held Monday in California.

Also in the Sioux Center News, December 15 (Hull news): Some 40 years ago Mrs. Heideman and her sister, Mrs. Jerry Winters, had charge of the dormitory in Hull. Later they moved to Sioux Center. Word came from Minneapolis that Mrs. Jerry Winters was in a hospital, so was not able to attend her sister’s funeral.

The Sioux Center News, December 29, 1938, published a letter from Conrad Jongewaard reporting on her funeral, conducted in the “Peace Chapel” by Rev. Luther E. Stein, the minister of the Glendale Presbyterian Church, who stressed Mrs. Heideman’s active busy life.

Another news note in the same issue of the newspaper says that Mrs. Heideman left four children surviving her: Winnie, who is married and also lives in Glendale; Johanna, who is teaching school and is the mainstay of the family; Burdette, who has been an invalid for years; and John, who is married and lives in Oregon. Mrs. Heideman was a sister of the late Albert Boeyink of Sioux Center.
