HAWARDEN, IOWA – Donald L. Kelhower, 76, of Hawarden, died Friday, January 22, 2021 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Private family Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden with Rev. Erma Wolf officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Grace Hill Cemetery. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com. Donald L. Kelhower was born May 30, 1944 to Frank and Mildred (Hout) Kelhower in Akron, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Karma K. Boyer May 29, 1964 at the American Lutheran Church in Hawarden, Iowa. They made their home there for 56 years.

Don worked at Coilcraft for 26 years total. He worked at Staples Promotional Products 6 years, and Dollar General for 8 years. He was also a cosmetologist many years.

He enjoyed flowers, gardening, and music. Don was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

Don is survived by his wife Kay; two sons, Brian and wife Jodi of Cary, Illinois and Patrick and wife Marie of Hudson, South Dakota; 6 grandchildren, Amber, Jesse, Caitlin, Jaren, Sierra, and Luka; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry.
