Suzanne Meendering was born in Sioux City, Iowa on March 14, 1970. God placed her in the loving care of her mom and dad, Arnie and Carol (Bouma) Koekkoek. They raised Suzanne in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Suzanne attended Sioux Center Christian School and went on to graduate from Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa. While attending Western Christian, she met and fell in love with Lanny Meendering. They got married on September 10, 1988 in Sioux Center. The couple made their home in Inwood, Iowa where they raised their 4 children, Randi, Danielle, Gregory, and Jacob.

In 1993, at 23 years of age, Suzanne was introduced to her birth family in Yankton, South Dakota. Roger and Sandi Pierce, along with siblings, Tara and Tony, opened their arms to welcome Suzanne and her family with theirs. Suzanne was blessed to have two wonderful families.

When Suzanne and Lanny’s children were young she stayed home to raise the kids and also ran an in-home daycare. After the kids were all in school she began cooking at Inwood Christian School. In 2005 she began working at Fellowship Village in Inwood and in 2009 became the dietary manager. In addition to her busy days of work, Suzanne continually taught piano lessons through the years.

Suzanne was a part of Voices of Faith for many years. She was a member of Inwood Christian Reformed Church where she served as the church choir director, praise team member, and played piano for many events. Suzanne loved being involved in her kids’ activities, including sporting events, watching from the bleachers and even coaching. In the summertime, camping and boating with family and friends was always a highlight. After the kids had grown and moved out of the house, Suzanne and Lanny did a lot of motorcycle riding.

Suzanne touched many people throughout her life, whether it was through her fight with cancer, her work at the nursing home, her ministry in music, or her infectious smile. She will be forever remembered, missed, and loved by her family and friends.

Suzanne is survived by her husband of 32 years, Lanny; 4 children, Randi (Michael) Grevengoed of Doon, Iowa, Danielle (Andre) Williams, Gregory (Brooklyn) Meendering, and Jacob (Cheyenne) Meendering, all of Inwood; 12 grandchildren with another one on the way; parents, Arnie and Carol KoekKoek; birth parents, Roger and Sandi Pierce; birth grandmother, Marjorie Goodroad; siblings, Jeanne Stierman (Dan Curtis), Alan Koekkoek, Adele (Michael) Leach, Tara Pierce (Debra Condron), and Tony (Abbey) Pierce; parents-in-law, Randy and Glen Meendering; and brother-in-law, Jeremy (Anne) Meendering.
