Sarah J. Rawlings, 87, of Dakota Dunes, SD, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home following a brief illness.

No services are planned at this time, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences can be expressed at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Sarah was born October 31, 1933 in Granville, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Heitzman) Neuroth. She graduated from Alton High School in 1951. On January 17, 1959, she married William Rawlings. To this union, three children were born. Sarah lived in Sioux City for over 60 years and in the Dakota Dunes for the last 6 years. She worked for Arthur Sanford for many years. She also volunteered at Mercy Medical Center’s Kaleidoscope Gift Shop for several years.

Those left to honor her memory are her husband of 61 years, William of Dakota Dunes; daughters Anne (Mark) Hunsicker of Omaha, NE and Lynne (Doug) Lacey of Dakota Dunes; son Mark (Regina) Rawlings of Sioux City; grandchildren P.J. Hunsicker, Brett and Matt Lacey, Angela Lacey-Rock, Ben and Madeline Rawlings, Travis and Jonathon Roggatz; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers Gene, Charles, Paul, David, Rodney, Timothy Neuroth; sisters Joyce Plathe and Marilyn Hammond; sister-in-law Mary Gaukel; brother-in-law Mauri Rawlings; and many nieces and nephews.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald, Clifford, Patrick, Joseph Neuroth; sisters Virginia Wagner, Julie Spieler, and Theann Brzuchalski; sister-in-law Janet Pulscher, and brother-in-law Robert Rawlings.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Hospice of Siouxland or Siouxland Humane Society.
