Het jongste kind van L. Van Noord (Noort) is verleden week Donderdag overleden. Vrijdag wered het stoffelijk overschot ter aarde besteld.
Translated:
The youngest child of L. Van Noord (Noort) passed away last Thursday. The remains were buried on Friday.

Child of:
Leonard Lin’ Van Noort born 8 Jul 1854 Zwijndrecht ZH Neth. Died 4 Mei 1935 Winchester Ontario Canada?.
Wife Aaltje Kuijper born 28 Feb 1861 Zwijndrecht ZH Neth died 23 Nov 1938 Sioux Center IA.

They were living in West Branch tsp in 1900 census. Other children Saltje 1888, Marten 1891, Yaanje 1892, Elizabeth 1893, Emerld ‘Emma’ 1895.

See obit of Alta Kuijper Mrs. Leonard Van Noort 1861-1988, states the family lived at Hull for 35 years.

The 1930 census states that Alta Van Noort was widowed living in Hull, IA
The 1920 census states that Alta Van Noort was a widow living with her son Marten age 27
The 1910 census also states that she was a widow with children marten 19, Jennie 18, Elizabeth 17 and Emma 15.

In the Alton Democrat of Jan 14, 1903 She was given a divorce from Leendert Van Noort and custody of the children. So was she a widow in the censuses of 1910-1920-1930? He may have gone off to Canada?
