On Tuesday, May 20th, 1884 Mary Conrad, wife of S. S. Conrad, after an illness of several months, aged thirty seven died.
Mrs. Conrad was born in Germany, January 15, 1847, and came to this country when about six years of age. She was married to Samuel D. Conrad in Sioux City, Iowa April 7th, 1874. Mrs. Conrad has had very delicate health for a long time, but the immediate illness that caused her death dates since February, She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her death.

Research Note: A family report on ancestry (by others) lists Samuel Sanson Conrad born 24 Dep 1847 Indiana died 15 Feb 1917 Tangipahoa, Louisiana. He married Mary Cooper born 15 Jun 1847 Germany died 29 Mary 1884 Sioux County IA. Parents not listed.. married 7 Apr 1874 Woodbury County IA. They were the parents of four children – Daniel 1874, John 1877, Nettie 1879 and Katie May 1881.
1900 census Samuel S. Conrad born Sep 1845 Indiana lived in Logan Tsp, Sioux County IA, he married wife #2 1886, her name was Katherine born Jun 1856 IA. According to this census the first four children listed would be the children of Samuel and Mary. Daniel 25, John C. 23, Mattie M. 20, and Katie Mae 18. There were 6 more children born to Samuel and his second wife Katherine.
