CAR CRASH KILLS DAVID ZEUTENHORST

David Wayne Zeutenhorst, 17, a senior at MOC, died at the Orange City Hospital last Wednesday afternoon following an unusual car accident at the rear driveway of the high school. Dave, who was President of the Student Council, apparently lost control of the 1967 Volkswagon he was driving as he approached the driveway from Frankfort Avenue and crashed into a fire hydrant.

He was rushed to the local hospital where he died of head injuries at about 2:30 P.M. that day.

John H. Spradling, 17, one of three classmate passengers in the Zeutenhorst car was treated and released at the hospital. He was reported suffering from leg injuries and lacerations.

Norm Bomgaars and Todd Surber also classmates and fellow members if the MOC football team with Dave, were not injured seriously.

Investigating officers said that David had received permission from school officials to leave the building to go home for medication for a kidney infection which he had been suffering from.

His three classmates apparently decided to accompany him and the group was returning to school when the tragic accident occurred.

David is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Zeutenhorst, a brother, Tim, at home; and a sister Janet of Iowa City.
