A sad accident took place last Thursday at the home of W. J. Goemans. Mrs. Goemans was washing and had just put boiling water in the washing machine. She then went to the neighbor, R. Jongewaard, to fetch water and during that time her child, a boy of 17 months, crawled to the washing machine and pulled the plug out. The poor child was then given the jet of boiling water, which came out of the washing machine and got burned so badly that the next day he died of the consequences. The same day, a telegram to Mr. Goemans sent to Palmer, S. Dak., Where he was working, but he was not allowed to find the little one alive anymore, as he did not arrive here until Saturday evening. The mortal remains of the child were made Monday afternoon from the Chr. Ger. once carried to the grave. Our heartfelt sympathy is with the sorrowful parents in this grievous trial which must strike them a second time.
