Mrs. Jacob Elgersma Passed Away Monday.

Mrs. Jake Elgersma Sr. passed away early Monday morning at her home here after a week's illness with flu and complications.

Mrs. Elgersma was a patient sufferer from arthritis for many years and got about with the aid of crutches for eleven years, but did most of her own housework. On Saturday, July 29, she came down with flu and her age and the complications which developed were more than her frail body could withstand and at 3:15 a. m. August 8, she breathed her last.

Jessie Duimstra was born February 27, 1867 in Oosterbierum, The Netherlands and was 77 years, 5 months and 10 days of age at the time of her death.

She was married to Jake Elgersma in The Netherlands on November 17, 1888. Two years later they came to the United States, settling at Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they lived for 11 years. They then came to Iowa and resided in Sioux County for ten years, when they came to the Sanborn community. They lived for seven years on the Chas. Burns farm south of town and in 1918 moved to town into a home south of the tracks. Six years ago they purchased a home on West Third street to be nearer their church, the Christian Reformed, of which both were loyal members.

Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Elgersma, all of whom with their father survive to bless the memory of a devoted Christian mother. They are: Pete, Sanborn; Harry J., Waupun, Wisconsin; Gertrude, Mrs. Jake Haagsma Sr. and Maggie, Mrs. Jake Andringa, both of Sanborn; Mrs. Florence Andringa, Alton; John, Sanborn; Ernest J., Hartley; Alyce, Mrs. Ed. Boone, Sanborn. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Jake Duimstra, Santa Cruz, California, and Fred Duimstra, Orange City.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the house and at 2:00 in the Christian Reformed Church here with the Reverend William Bajema, of Sheldon, in charge. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery.
