William L. “Bill” Becker, 64, of Le Mars, formerly of Ireton, died Saturday, October 1, 1983, in a Sioux City Hospital after a long illness.

Services were at 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 4, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Ireton. The Reverend Michael Klafehn officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Douglas McDougall, Gene Becker, Don Rosburg, Jerry Nicholas, John Brangwin and Dick McDougall.

Mrs. Becker was born October 15, 1918, at Ireton. He was the son of Louis and Jennie (Nicholson) Becker. He graduated from Maurice High School and attended the NBT Business College in Sioux City. He was employed at City Stock Yards for several years and farmed most of his life in the Ireton area. He retired in 1979 because of poor health and moved in Le Mars.

Mr. Becker was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served as president for twenty years. He was a member of the Sioux City Cancer Visitation Chapter.

Survivors include one brother, Ronald of Ireton and one sister, Mrs. Harold (Gladys) Vlieger if Maurice.
