ROCK VALLEY, IOWA – Wilma Ida Koedam, 93, formerly of Hull, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 5th at the American Reformed Church in Hull, Iowa with Rev. Bartel Elshout of the Heritage Reformed Congregation officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Public viewing, without family present, will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley. Visitation with the family will be the hour prior to the service at the church. The funeral service will be recorded and available to view at porterfuneralhomes.com. Wilma Ida (Burgers) Koedam, daughter of George and Wilma (Zeilstra) Burgers was born on June 16, 1927 at the farm home near Larchwood, Iowa. Wilma attended Centennial #2 school and graduated at the age of 12 from grade school. She stayed home and helped her mother.

Wilma married James Koedam on January 2, 1947 at her parents’ home in Rock Valley, Iowa. To this union 5 children were born, James, Gary, Marsha, Wanda, and Rhonda. Together the family lived and farmed near Doon, Iowa. They moved to the town of Doon in 1972. The couple moved to Aspen Heights in Hull, Iowa June 16, 2016. Mom continued to live there until she went to Whispering Heights in Rock Valley on December 22, 2020.

Wilma enjoyed her role as a homemaker and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, and cleaning. They loved vacationing in Arizona for 22 years. She was a member of Heritage Reformed Congregation in Hull.

She is survived by 4 children, James M. (Nina) Koedam, Gary (Lorna) Koedam of Doon, Marsha (Dennis) Kelderman of Hull, and Rhonda (Glenn) Postma of Doon; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Grave Boeve of Luverne, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Marge Burgers of Inwood, Iowa and Nina Koedam of Rock Valley; and brother-in-law and wife Bill and Everdena Koedam of Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; daughter, Wanda Jean; grandson, Jamie; great-grandson Jesse Doorenbos; 3 brothers, 5 sisters; and numerous in-laws.
