Rock Valley, Iowa: Cody Tiedeman, 43, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at his residence in Rock Valley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19, at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rock Valley with Pastor Edward Pease officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery of rural Hull, Iowa. Public visitation, with no family present, will be held Friday, December 18, from 2:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Masks and social distancing are required at all events.

Cody Lawrence Tiedeman was born June 9, 1977 in Rock Valley, Iowa, the son of Leroy and Joleen (Plathe) Tiedeman and was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church rural Hull. He attended school in Rock Valley. Following his junior year of high school, Cody did Army basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Cody graduated in 1995 and then completed his training. He was in the Army National Guard for 9 years attaining the rank of Specialist E4.

Cody attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon and graduated in 1999 with a degree in Engineer Drafting. Following graduation, he worked at Harvard Industries, then as a designer for Sioux Dairy, and later worked at Kooima Company. Currently, Cody managed Rock Valley Rural Water where he considered his team family. He worked tirelessly leading the organization forward. He put his customers first, was a “handler” and the board appreciated him and his ability to get it done.

Although a man of few words and known to quietly slip out of the room unnoticed, Cody had a big heart and was willing to help others, no questions asked. His quick wit and sense of humor were unmatched, and he loved to make fun in a good-natured way with those he loved most.

When not working, Cody spent time with Alyssa and liked hanging out with friends as well as his nephews and niece and family. He enjoyed (watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes and recently the Kansas City Chiefs, experiencing the outdoors in the backyard, golfing, and perfecting his signature “Tiedeman Two-Step.” A proud new homeowner, he dedicated time to home improvements and took pride in training his dog, Ozzy Girl.

Cody is survived by his loving dad, Leroy and his wife Christie; forever friend and love, Alyssa Van’t Hul; sisters, Sanya (Nick) McDonald of Rock Valley and JoAnna (Traves) Hesebeck of Harris, Iowa; brothers, Shane (Christy) Boeve of Tama, Iowa, Dustin (Carla) Tiedeman of Henderson, Nevada, and Mitchell Tiedeman of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nephews: Dalton Tiedeman, Braiton McDonald, Dodge Hesebeck, and Michael McDonald; niece, Aryah McDonald; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Cody was preceded in death by his mother, Joleen Tiedeman; and his grandparents, Lawrence and Pearl Tiedeman and Melvin and Esther Plathe.
