Ms. Donna Vander Linden, age 58, of Orange City, formerly of California, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a private memorial service on Tuesday, November 17, at 4:30pm, at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Robert Drenten will officiate. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

All those in attendance will be asked to use face coverings and abide by social distancing guidelines.

Donna Lee was born on September 30, 1962, in Platte, South Dakota, the daughter of Paul and Marge (Caswell) Visser. She was raised in Orange City, where she attended high school before enrolling at Northwestern College, where she was very involved with the music department and was a cheerleader. Following completion of her bachelor’s degree, she moved to Fullerton, California, where she worked at the St. Jude Medical Center for 35 years.

She was united in marriage to Hugh Thomas Van Der Linden on January 3, 1987, in Paramount, California. They made their home in Norwalk, California, and were blessed with three children. Donna later moved to Cerritos, California, where, in addition to being a wife and mother and working at the hospital, she also taught swimming lessons for many years.

Donna was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Paramount, where she participated in the adult choir, the annual Christmas dinner theater, and directed the children’s choir. She enjoyed vacations with her family, especially skiing in the winter and spending time at the cabin in the Angeles National Forest, as well as coming to Iowa to visit her parents and siblings.

Survivors include her two daughters, Autumn Van Der Linden, and her boyfriend, Tyler Robinson, of Alton, and their son, Lennon; Hannah Van Der Linden, of Santa Cruz, California; her son’s girlfriend, Kelly Heyer, of Anaheim Hills, California, and their daughter, Presley; her mother, Marge Visser, of Orange City; three sisters, Val, and her husband, Randy Droog, and Belinda, and her husband, Dan Pluim, all of Orange City; and Carol, and her husband, Doug Bootsma, of Sanborn; a brother, Paul Lyle Visser, of Orange City; a brother-in-law and his wife, Arthur and Darla Vander Wilt, of Hospers; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Nathan Van Der Linden; a sister, Carla Vander Wilt; and two sisters-in-law, Sheila Visser and Lisa Visser.
