Mr. Mitchell Van Wyk of near Sanborn died in St. Jospeh's hospital at Sioux City Thursday Jun 28th at the age of 44 years. He leaves to mourn his early departure his wife Johanna, who formerly was Johanna Wolfswinkel of Hull and two daughters and three sons.

Also surviving are his mother Mrs. Arie Van Wyk of Orange City, two brothers John and Gilbert and three sisters, Mrs. Sophie De Graaf, Irene (Mrs. Rodney Vellinga) , and Leola Mrs. Gene Te Grotenhuis. Funeral services were held on Monday from the First Reformed Church of Sheldon with interment in the Orange City cemetery.

After an illness of a few months, Mitchell Van Wyk of Sibley passed away at the St. Joseph hospital in Sioux City last week Thursday at 7:45 o'clock in the morning . The departed underwent an operation for brain tumor about a month ago. and a second operation over a week ago which left him in an unconscious state from which he never recovered.

Mr. Van Wyk was born on a farm near Middleburg on June 11, 1907. He received his education in the rural schools and later at the N.W. Academy . He married Johanna Wolfswinkel of Hull 19 year s ago. His occupation was farming.

Mr. and Mrs. Van Wyk were the parents of 5 children: Audrey , Arwin, Delores, Robert and Michael Joe , all at home , the youngest being 1 year old.

Besides his widow and children the departed leaves his mother , Mrs. A . M. Van Wyk of O. C , and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Sophia De Graaf of O. C , twin sister to the departed; John of Sanborn; Irene , Mrs. Rodney Vellinga of Ireton; Gilbert of O. C , and Leola, Mrs. Eugene Te Grotenhuis of O. C.

Preceding him in death are his father, who died 3 years ago; his sister, Greta, Mrs. Edward Veld, died 5 years ago and an infant brother, also preceded him. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Reformed church of Sheldon with Rev . Niewsma officiating. Interment was made in the O. C. cemetery.
