Anthony R. Vonderharr, 85, of Alton died Tuesday in the Heritage House in Orange City. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. The Rev. David Hogan officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.

Mr. Vonderharr was born Sept. 4, 1896, at Granville. He married Rose Schnee Nov. 12, 1923, in Alton. They farmed in South Dakota until 1952 when they retired and moved to Alton. She died Aug. 3, 1976. Mr. Vonderharr was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society of the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Darlene) Friedmann of Alton and Mrs. Louis (Shirley) DeBoer of Boyden; one sister, Mrs. Clara Nothem of San Gabriel, Calif; 10 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; four step-grandchildren and five step greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose and son, Anthony Jr.
