Sioux County Index of August 19, 1921

In the morning of the 8th day of August it behooved God Almighty to take from our midst our beloved mother and grandmother, Mrs. A. Humme at the age of 79 years and 10 months.
She was born in Lochem Netherlands Oct 2, 1841 where she also married A. (Arend) Humme October 15, 1865. Four children were born to them, one of two died in infancy and the oldest daughter who died at the age of 27, September 30, 1895, had gone before them. Two children are still living, John Humme who lives at the old homestead and Mrs. Lambert Van Sloten who lives in Hull.

Mr. and Mrs. Humme came to this country in March 1894 and settled at the farm six miles northwest of Hull where they lived until their death.

Father Humme died February 4, 1916. Herewith the children also desire to express their appreciation to the neighbors and friends who so kindly expressed their concerns during the sickness and the funeral of our mother. Mr. John Humme and family and Mrs. John Van Sloten and family.
