Marie Vander Mannen died Monday morning Aug 7 at 7:10 Aged 11 years 3 mo and 9 days. The little girl was taken down with the dreaded typhoid and was sick only about 10 days when she died. The deceased leaves to mourn her demise her mother and one brother. This is one of the saddest deaths that has occurred here. Mrs. Vander Mannen the mother is having more than her share of trouble and sorrow. This the fifth time that death has entered this home in the past few years. While yet in the Netherlands three grown sons died and about two years ago her husband died leaving her with the two children Gerrit and Marie. A year ago last March by the help of brother John Vanden Brink she and her remaining two children came to this country and were now getting along quite well. The little girl was a great comfort to her mother and there is a vacant place which cannot be filled. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended to the sorrowing mother in this sad bereavement. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, burial was made in Sherman Township Cemetery.

Her mother was Maria C. Vander Mannen born Jan 23, 1861 died Mar 13, 1928, the other child of her was Gerrit Vander Mannen born Oct 10, 1894 died Aug 18, 1962.
