Linda Lou was born on April 14, 1937, in Cherokee, the daughter of Gerald and Jeanette (Gebauer) Weis. She was raised in several Iowa communities before her family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she attended the Upper Darby High School.

Following her graduation from high school, she enrolled in the nursing program at Temple University in Philadelphia, during which time she met James S.J. McCutcheon, a student at The University of Pennsylvania. After Jim’s honorable discharge from the military, the couple was united in marriage on December 20, 1958, in Philadelphia. They spent the majority of their married life in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they raised their family and Linda worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital and later at Sharon Towers, a retirement community in Charlotte. In 1991, both Linda and Jim retired, and moved to Alton. In May of 2019, she became a resident of the Happy Siesta Care Center.

Mrs. McCutcheon had been an active member of the St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church in Charlotte, singing in the choir, and serving as director of the handbell choir. She was an avid collector of all things Coca-Cola and enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting antiques. She loved animals, from her Poodles to her cheeseburger eating Doberman, as well as the numerous kittens she rescued and cared for.

Survivors include her husband of more than 61 years, Jim, of Alton; a daughter and her husband, Kelly and Tony Konz, of Alton, and their children Christopher Gianopoulos and Marisa Rae Konz; a son and his wife, Chris and Debi McCutcheon, of Morehead City, North Carolina, and their children, Kayla, and her husband, Ben Wallenhaupt, Brannon McCutcheon, and Jackson McCutcheon; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Darlene and Robert Fee.
