Mrs. Marie Vande Steeg died in her home near Hospers on Wednesday after a short illness. Born in Gelderland, Ned., 30 Aug 1851, she came with her husband the late Mr. Cornelius Vande Steeg, and 5 small children in 1885 in Sioux County and continued to live there. A daughter and eight sons survive her, Mrs. Walter Den Hartog near Hospers. Anthony, Carpenter or Sioux City, Gerald optician and Frank vet in Sauk Center, MN, Marinus saddler in Prinsburg MN., and Cornelius, attorney, mayor of Orange City and president of the Iowa League of Municipalities, John, engineer at Orange City, Jake car dealer of Storm Lake and William surgeon or Rockford IL. There are 22 Grandchildren. The funeral took place Saturday afternoon at the 20th of The First Ref. Church in Hospers.
