Research note: Ancestry.com report (done by others) Claus Lafrenz Henry Vagts was born 12 Mar 1881 Cadenberge Cuxhaven, Lower Saxony, Germany, died 4 Nov 1968 Rock Rapids IA. Wife was Meta Maria Magdelena Meyer 1884-1947. Among their nine children was listed Katharina Maria Vagts 1905-1905.

Funeral services near Borden Thursday (or C L. H. 'Henry' Vagh A long-time Lyon county resident will be buried near Boyden today (Thursday). He is C. L. II. "Henry" Vagts, former resident of the George area who had lived in Rock Rapids for the past 15 years. Vagts died Monday at the Restmore Convalescent home where he had lived for the past three years. Death was attributed to a heart attack,

He was'87. Funeral services are scheduled for this afternoon at St. John's Lutheran church at Boyden with the Rev. Rudy Wendell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of the Vogelaar Funeral home of George.

Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr Vagts. They are Robert Vagts, Delmer Woelber, Lloyd Ossenfort, Wayne Vagts, Homer Daniel, and Roger Broesder. Honorary' bearers are six other grandchildren. They are Donald Woelber, Richard Vagts, Larry Vikander, David Vikander, Ronald Ossenfort and Kenneth Vagts

C. L. H. "Henry" Vagts was born in Germany on March 12, 1881, a son of Claus and Marie (Woelber) Vagts. He came to the United States at the age of three, in 1884, and settled with his family, in Lyon county, in the George area. He farmed in that area for many years and married Mata Meyer in December, 1902 at his home south of George.
His wife preceded him in death. About 15 years ago, he moved to Rock Rapids where he was active with a federal government service working with grain storage bins.

Survivors are four sons — August of Land O Lakes, Fla.; Herman of Rogers, Minn.; John of Breckenridge, Minn.; and William of Boyden; three daughters — Martha, Mrs Herman Woelber of Breckenridge, Minn.; Anna, Mrs Wilson Ossenfort of George; and Marie, Mrs Bud Vikander of El Cajon, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and a brother, William, of George
