1885 census of Wheeler Sac, IA James A. Watson was 30 and Addie K. Watson was 20 and Maud was 0.

1900 census lists James and Adda living in Lincoln tsp Sioux Co. IA. James was 46 born Aug 1853 Ohio, wife Adda born Nov 1865 PA children listed were Maud 15, Ralph 11, Luella 7, Samuel 4, and Edith 2.

1910 census they were living in Havelock, Chippewa MN,

In the birth record of son Ralph, is listed mother Ada Kate Rhoads.

In the 1940 census James A. Watson was 85 years living in Sparta Chippewa MN.

Died, July 19th Clara Alice Rhoads, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Watson aged 7 years and 17 days.
This little bud of promise was stricken with the ravages of disease and for some weeks suffered until death came to her relief. The funeral services were held yesterday at the residence in the east part of town, where a large company of sympathizing friends came with their floral offerings as a token of their affection for the little one.
The remains were laid to rest in Hope cemetery, services being conducted by Rev. Burnip of the M. E. Church.
