Research note: Marie Catharine Perrott was born 11 Oct 1905 Hospers IA, died 11 Sep 1971 Mapleton IA, daughter of Nicolas Perrott and Mary Magdalene Jenenman. She married 5 May 1925 at Hospers IA. Her husband was Oliver Hiram Ward 1900-1954. Two children were listed Donald Gene Ward 1934-2003 and Margaret Ann Ward Daughtery.

A friend passes away FORMER HOSPERITE DIES Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m., Sept. 14th at St.' Mary's Catholic Church, at Mapleton, Iowa for Mrs. John Newman,.age 65, who passed away on Sept. 11 in Battle Creek after a long illness. Burial was in the (Lady of Good Council Cemetery)? at Hospers.

Mrs. Newman, the former Marie Catherine Perrott was born Oct. II, 1905 at Hospers. She married Oliver Ward on May 5, 1925 at Hospers. He died in 1954. She married Joseph Schimitz in 1964 at LeMars. He died in 1966. On Nov. 4, 1967, Marie married Mr. John Newman. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church. Royal Neighbors.

Survivors: Widower; daughter Mrs. Gene Saltsgiver of Sioux City; son, Donald Ward of Fullerton, Calif,; step daughters, Mrs. John Carlsen of Mapleton. Mrs. Clark Martin of Castana, Iowa; step sons, Glenn Shimitz and Joel Shimitz, both of Sioux City, Cecil Newman of Sioux City, Richard Newman of Omaha three grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; and 10 step-great grandchildren.
