Mr. Orville Beltman, age 91, of Orange City, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

There will be a private service on Thursday, April 16, at 10:00am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. Pastor Nick Koenig will officiate. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City.

Orville Gene was born on September 9, 1928, in Orange City, the son of Gerrit and Mildred (Ruisch) Beltman. He was raised in Alton, where he graduated from high school. He enrolled at the Iowa State University for one year before he was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

On August 19, 1955, he married Edna Joanne Dragstra in Orange City. They made their home in Orange City, where he spent forty years working as a foreman, manager, and part owner of Tolman Fabricating. Edna passed away on May 4, 2000, in Orange City, after more than 45 years of marriage.

On September 11, 2004, he married Marjorie Arlene (Ekdom) Faber in Orange City. They made their home in Orange City until Marjorie’s passing on February 1, 2018, after more than thirteen years of marriage.

Orville was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City. In earlier years, he was an active member of the Orange City Volunteer Fire Department, having served as their fire chief. He also served on the Maurice-Orange City School Board and was instrumental in the construction of the Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City. He volunteered his craftsman skills throughout the community. Spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities brought him special joy.

Survivors include his two sons and their wives, Daryl and Shirley Beltman, and Ron and Mary Beltman, all of Orange City; three step-children and their spouses, Renee and Mike Noteboom, of Orange City; Barb and Dallas Jackson, of Urbandale; and Douglas and Cinda Faber, of Sioux Center; two grandchildren, Joshua Beltman and Laura Beltman; and eight step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Francis De Jong, Arlene Gesink, and Myrna Beltman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Unity Christian High School or Northwestern College.
