Death of Former Resident
Mrs. Harriet Thuston, early day resident of this city and community, passed away on Tuesday evening, Sept 29th at a hospital in Pueblo CO. She had been in failing health for more than a year.

Accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Verna Burke and her grandson Dorsey Burke, the remains were brought to Hawarden, arriving here earl Friday morning. Funeral services were held at the ross Funeral Home at 2:30 Friday afternoon with Rev. T. H. Harding, pastor of the associated church, in charge. Interment was made in the family lot in Grace Hill cemetery.

Harriet Webster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Webster, early day settlers of this community, was born at Springfield IL, Feb 6, 1863, so was past 73 years of age at the time of her death. With her parents and other members of the family she came to this community about 1870 when her father homesteaded on the south Dakota side of the river, about four miles southwest of Hawarden. She grew to young womanhood on the old Webster farm.

On Dec 11, 1887 she was untied in marriage with Chas. W. Thuston, who for a good many years was employed by the north western Railway Co. here. She continued to make her home in Hawarden until about 1899 when Mr. Thuston was transferred to Long Pine Neb. And Host Springs SD. Where Mr. Thuston continued in the employ of the railway company.

He died at Hot Springs in Oct 1912. After the death of her husband she made her home most of the time with her daughter and lived at various time in Montana, California and Colorado.

She is survived by the daughter, Mrs. Verna Burke of Denver CO; two grandchildren Dorsey Burke of Cheyenne WY, and Miss Frances Burke of Denver; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Perkins of St. Cloud FL and Mrs. Vern W. Turner of Los Angeles CA and two Brothers Will Webster of Las Angeles and Fred Webster of Montana.

Mrs. Thuston was a woman of devout Christian character whose greatest interest in life was the welfare of her family and loved ones. During her early day residence in Hawarden she was a member of the congregational church and she continued through life firm in her faith in the Savior. She was well known to the older residents of the community but there are a few of her old friends still residing here.

Out of town relatives who were here to attend the funeral were Miss Mable Green and James O. Green a niece and nephew of Sioux Falls.
