Gerrit John Van Dyke, son of Cornelius "Case" Van Dyke and Alice (Evink) Van Dyke, was born June 10, 1933 in Rock Valley, IA. He grew up and received his education there.

Gerrit moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he began his career as a HVAC technician. He worked with the Sioux Falls School System and Johnson Controls. Gerrit later owned and operated Midwest Controls before selling the business to Girton-Adams. He continued to work at Girton-Adams until an injury forced his retirement.

Gerrit was devoted to his beloved wife of 31 years, the former Annette Fischer Juhnke, whom he married on December 10, 1977 in Sioux Falls.

Gerrit attended First Congregational Church. He loved music, traveling, gardening and flowers.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Annette; four children, Terry Van Dyke, Sioux Falls, SD, Lora Van Dyke, Sioux Falls, SD, Gary Van Dyke and his wife, Ann, Alvin, TX, Steven Van Dyke and his wife, Winnie, Kansas City, MO; four sisters, Everdena Renkin, Irene, SD, Tillie Helgerson, Rock Valley, IA, Alice Hanson and her husband, Richard, Casper, WY, Kay DeVos, Rock Valley, IA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gerrit was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Tony Van Dyke; and two sisters, Angeline Van Dyke and Bertha Rhodes.
