Services held Friday for Mrs. August Stueven of George Funeral services were held Friday at St. John's Lutheran church near Boyden for Mrs. August Stueven.

Mrs. Stueven died Wednesday at the Merrill Pioneer Community hospital in Rock Rapids. The services were held at the Boyden church at 2 p.m., preceded by family worship. Rev. Otto Iszler officiating at the services. Special music was provided by Mrs, Wallace Winter and Mrs. Loren Stueven singing "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me". The congregation sang "Nearer My God to Thee". Organist for the services was Mrs. Lowell Woelber, Mrs Stueven.

The former Katharina Bahlke, was born in Lyon county July 16, 1896, a daughter of August and Anna Bahlke. She grew up in the George area and attended rural schools. On June 29, 1934, she married August Stueven near George and the couple lived in Lyon county until the time of her death, farming southwest of George. Burial was in the St John's cemetery near Boyden, with Vogelaar Funeral home handling arrangements Casket bearers were Albert Winter, Rudolf Fick, Wilbert Hollander, Ervin Stueven, Irvin Meyer and Arthur Stueven.

Surviving are her husband; five sons: Marvin of Steen, Minn.; Wilfred of Hills, Minn., and Ruben, Harold and Kenneth, all of rural George; 14 grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs Marie Fick of Rock Rapids and Mrs Anna Meyer of Boyden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters: Betty, Sophia, Margaret and Dora; a son, LaVerne, a granddaughter, Phyllis and a grandson, Daryl.
