Hiltje Johanna Semmelaar, 92, was born in Leeuwarden, Friesland in 1851. At the age of 25 she married Henry Van Donselaar. One son was born to this union. Their married life was cut short by the death of her husband. The following year she married Teunis Van Zaalen. To this union eight children were born, Elizabeth, who died at the age of seventeen, Hermanna Steinblock, now deceased, Gerrit Jan and Hansje who died in their youth. In the year 1932 her husband died.

Surviving are three daughters namely: Mina Wilson of Washington state; Zena Quirk of Storm Lake, Iowa; and Miss Gerhard, who resided with her mother at the county home. Surviving also are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 P.M. in the First Christian Reformed Church with Reverend R. Bronkemaa officiating. Interment was made in the local cemetery with Reverend F. Schuurman in charge.
