Arlone Grace Vos was born September 2, 1926, in Sioux Center, Iowa to Henry and Hattie (Van Roekel) Kroon, the tenth of twelve children in the Kroon family. She attended country school and while there, she and her sister Clarene earned their piano lessons by cleaning the school house. She attended Sioux Center High School where she was active in various musical groups. She graduated in 1944. She continued to use her musical talents as an organist, beginning at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center and later at American Reformed Church in Primghar and for prayer meetings at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. While living in Primghar she taught both piano and organ students and accompanied high school students in vocal contests. After high school, she worked as a bookkeeper for Ver Hoef Chevrolet and later worked with her husband as a bookkeeper when he opened first a used car dealership and then the Chrysler dealership in Sioux Center. She was meticulous in her work, her homemaking, and instilling her strong Christian faith in her children and grandchildren. She loved the many hours she spent working on art projects with her grandchildren. Arlone married Wilbur Vos on October 3, 1945 and they were blessed with 74 years together. After Wilbur retired, they spent many happy years living at the lake in Minnesota. During that time Arlone began expanding her artistic talents taking up oil painting. Her children and grandchildren are blessed to have her artwork as precious mementos.

In addition to her husband Wilbur, Arlone is survived by three sons: Lauren and his wife Shirley (Gebauer) of Erhard, MN, Les of Sioux Center, and Dell and Lori (Visscher) of Boiling Springs, SC. She is also survived by five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
