Mrs. Janet Hofmeyer, age 81, of Hospers, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Unity Point Health St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, February 29, at 1:00pm, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hospers. The Rev. Dr. Brian Janssen and Pastor Brian Schafer will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hospers Cemetery in rural Hospers. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the CHURCH.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

Janet Anena was born on October 25, 1938, in Ida Grove, the daughter of Donald Wesley and LaRue Katherine Wiebka (Miller) Terry. She was raised in Storm Lake, where she graduated from the Storm Lake High School. She then attended the St. Luke’s College of Nursing in Sioux City.

On January 3, 1960, she married Glen Rodger Hofmeyer at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. They lived in Archer for a year before moving to Hospers.

They were members of the First Presbyterian Church, where Jan taught Sunday School, directed and played for the Junior Choir, helped with the Christmas program for many years, and participated in the Ruth Circle. She and Glen were also youth sponsors together.

Family was important to her and she enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She also helped with 4-H and was a Sioux County Fair judge.

Survivors include her husband of more than sixty years; three children, Tim Hofmeyer, of Bruceton, Tennessee; Todd Hofmeyer, of Hospers, and Terri Koedam, of Alton; four grandchildren, Taylor Hofmeyer, and his wife, Anna, of Granville; Travis Hofmeyer, and his wife, Mel, of Ashton; Elyse, and her husband, Marcus Foy, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Trace Koedam, of Alton; two great-grandchildren, Burke Hofmeyer and Aviana Foy; and Glen’s siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
