Funeral services were held last week Thursday from the First Reformed Church in Hospers for Mrs. Edward (Kate) Van Zandbergen, 71, a former Hospers resident who died Monday, March 12, at a nursing home in Doon following a lingering illness.

Mrs. Van Zandbergen was born Kate Vande Berg on January 3, 1891, at Hospers and lived in Hospers practically all of her lifetime.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. John Holtrop of Sheldon; a son, Ted of Kearney, Nebraska; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Van Zyl of Sanborn; three brothers, Ben Vande Berg of Alton, Henry Vande Berg of Alvord and Albert Vande Berg of Orange City and nine grandchildren.

Services were conducted by the Reverend James Bos and Mrs. Don Raak sang two solos. Pallbearers were John Schuller, Henry De Haan, James Huygens, Joe Hoffs, and Henry Roos.
