Mrs. Citta Abma “Etta” Van Steenwyk died at her home at Orange City on May 8, shortly after midnight, of diabetes.

Deceased was born in the Netherlands on January 5th, 1855 and had “therefore reached the sixtieth milestone when she went to her reward. At the age of seventeen she came to this country with her parents, coming directly to Sioux County. In 1874 she was united in marriage, at Orange City, Iowa, to Abraham Van Steenwyk. Eight children came to bless this union and all of them survive. Mr. Van Steensyk died about fifteen years ago.

Deceased was actively engaged in farming on a large scale until a few months ago when she left the large farm and moved to a small place in Orange City, thinking to take life easy. Deceased leaves considerable property in the way of valuable Sioux County land.

Funeral services were held from the First Reformed Church at Orange City on Monday. The services were conducted by Reverend J.P. De Jong of Alton. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery. A large number from a distance attended the funeral services.
