Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church for William A. Van Steenwyk, 74, of Orange City. Reverend Jay De Vries officiated with burial being made in the West Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Wilbur Heurtz, Warren Sorgdrager, Roy Bloemendaal, John Bloemendaal, Ed Vander Wilt and Lawrence Dykstra.

Mr. Van Steenwyk passed away early Sunday morning in the local hospital after a series of strokes. He was born on January 15, 1893, and lived in the area all his life and retired from farming in 1946 and moved to Orange City.

He married Tillie Bloemendaal on March 11, 1917. Mrs. Van Steenwyk preceded him in death on February 17, 1967.

Survivors are five children, Mrs. George (Joyce) Vogel, Mrs. Willard (June) Van Peursem of Orange City, Mrs. Harris (Rita) Van Oort of Omaha, Nebraska, Willard Van Steenwyk of Orange City and Ernest Van Steenwyk of Artesia, California. Twenty grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two brothers, Abe of Cincinnati, Ohio, Arnold of Le Mars and one sister, Mrs. James (Etta) Sordgrager of Craig, Iowa, survive him. Four grandchildren in addition to Mrs. Van Steenwyk preceded him in death.
